Golf Marrowthon 2012
The Golf Marrowthon 100 Hole Challenge is a fun and unique charity golf event. Golfers from all handicap levels are welcomed to test their skill and endurance in the ultimate challenge of playing 100 holes in a single day to raise money for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ (LBC).
The LBC is holding the Golf Marrowthon in Taupo on Friday 12 October at the Wairakei International Golf Course.
Each player sets a fundraising target of $2,500 – an average of $25 a hole. Corporate teams are also welcome to take part and last year teams from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bell Gully took on the challenge. The overall target for the event is to raise $100,000 for the LBC’s Patient Support Services programme which provides home and hospital visits, support and education groups, printed information and an online information forum for patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood conditions.
Golf Marrowthons have been running for seven years and previous competitiors have included the likes of legendary golfer Sir Bob Charles; former All Blacks Robbie Deans, Steve Surridge and Scott Robertson; former Black Caps captain, Stephen Fleming; cricketers Nathan Astle and Craig McMillan and TVNZ presenter Peter Williams and TV3 presenter Hilary Barry.
