Thumb-200-1-1165463819-Michael Michael Blackman

This is my third year of Marrowthon. I have known the team at the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation for many years now and feel like I am part of their team. My motivation for the Marrowthon is that I get to see the amount of hard work that everyone at LBF does and so I would like to contribute something as well. (While also playing a bit of golf!) I am 33 years old and a bit better than a hacker. I run a Computer Support company called Circle IT (appropriate really due to my golf skills!)

This is my second time playing in the Auckland Golf Marrowthon and I'm really looking forward to it. I have always been an avid golfer and am now the head pro at Manukau. If you are interested in joining us on a once in a lifetime golf tour then please look at www.impactgolf.co.nz

I am a Business Development Manager for Fidelity Life Assurance Company Ltd. I am a more than keen golfer and am looking forward to the challenge of playing 100 holes of golf in a day for the third year. As an original player from two years ago I almost feel duty bound to carry on playing, but it is a great day and a fun way to raise money for a worthy cause.

I was born and raised in Nelson and relocated to Auckland in 1990. I started playing golf about 2000 when my wife brought me my first set of clubs (at times she since regrets). I really enjoy the game and have joined the grange golf club to furthur my game. I have been getting leasons from Aaron Harding at JK's world of Golf and can see the improvments. I am looking forward to what will be a great day of Golf. Thank you for your support.

I am the CEO of Fidelity Life Assurance Company Ltd. Our company has been keen supporters of the LBF over the last couple of years. Our products cover conditions such as leukaemia so it is appropriate that we put our support behind organisations like the LBF, who care and motivate those with this disabilities. This is my third time in the Marrowthon after having a very enjoyable time last year. I had the pleasure of playing with Ian Jones and Marc Ellis in the last couple of years. I also had great support from my family on the day. This year I am looking to play 100 holes in the day but to walk and carry my clubs rather than use a cart .I look forward to squeezing more money out of all those good supporters who sponsored me last year.

This is my second year on the Marrowthon, and I will be teaming up with Michael Blackman. We will be looking to raise a large total, and we'll be doing this with a twist. How much we raise will determine what we go dressed us. Want to see us in drag? Then it's time to stump up some cash!

Working with the team at LBF and seeing all the wonderful work they do inspired me to take part in this year's Golf Marrowthon. I am not a regular golfer but feel up to the challenge.

I have been associated with LBF for the past 11 years after taking over as their account Manager with the Bank of New Zealand. I thoroughly enjoyed competing in Golf Marrowthon last year and am delighted to be able to be part of the upcoming event. It seems only right to be involved and support the LBF after all these years witnessing the teams’ enthusiasm, dedication, energy and pride for the cause. I am also proud that the Bank of New Zealand has partnered LBF over the years.
Thumb-231-1-1170277158-Pete_for_golf_2 Pete Lourie

Hi, my name is Pete Lourie and I am looking forward to the 100 hole challenge again this year. Last year I supported my friend Steve Searle, who has leukaemia, and we had a wonderful day. It is a great cause and a great day. I have played golf for a long time and only just played Titirangi for the first time on a blustery day ... it destroyed me and dispelled any myths I had about the game being easy and gave me a new admiration for the pros and gun amateurs ... actually a new admiration for anyone who wants to take up the "beautiful" game. At present I am a Church Pastor at the Bible Chapel in Te Awamutu. I am an Automotive Engineer by trade, have milked cows, painted homes, baled hay, worked with youth at risk, and done a few other things, as well as lived in Fiji for four years with my wife and four children.

I started playing golf at thirteen and it quickly became an obsession. I got down to scratch and played for the NZ women's junior team. But I decided to pursue journalism and quit golf - only playing the odd social game. I decided I would love to do the Marrowthon, not only because it's a great cause, but it means I am allowed play fast after years of being told to slow down. Also, Hillary Barry has offered to be my manager which means she has to run around after me. After only playing two rounds in the last three years, it will be interesting to see how I go.

I have been playing golf on and off now for 20 years. Actually......playing may be an exaggeration....I swing at the ball with focused determination. On the odd occasion I make contact.....celebrate with a jello like dance....gather my concentration, cross my fingers ( which is difficult when holding a golf club ) and try again. When I'm not playing golf I'm employed by ORIX NZ as their Business Development Manager. I am married to a lovely Scottish Lass and have 2 fantastic boys ( both golf members ) aged 9 and 12 years.

Hi. I've played 101 holes in the Auckland Golf Marrowthon - thank you Aviation Country Club for the course, and for the sunshine and rain, and driving wind near day's end ... adds to the challenge. Thank you Pru fro your dedication to LBF and thank you to all our generous sponsors. Amazing day.

Hello there, wow this is my first ever Golf Marrowthon, and yes, I am nervous, but very excited. After just finishing a very competitive Tennis season its time to dust off my golf clubs, find my golf shoes and hit the driving range running. I love the game of golf, unfortunately I never get to play a lot, but having been a pennant player for Whitford Park Golf club I do know my way around 36 holes in a day. However, 100 holes will be a challenge. The chance to meet and play with similiar minded people who dedicate one day in their lives to make a difference to maybe just one person for the rest of there lives is something I am looking forward to. To all my friends and interested sponsors, please help me to raise money for this great event and I promise not to let you down and will be there going for it. Cheers, Yvonne.

This is my first year on the LBF Marrowthon . I work at O-I NZ as the Assistant Batch & Furnace Manager. I have been playing golf for the last ten years and am a member of RNZAF Golf Club at Whenuapai. I am looking forward to this 100 hole challenge as it is an opportunity to enjoy the day with people who are willing to contribute towards this worthy cause. I hope the generosity shown will make a difference in the life of someone less fortunate.
Thumb-246-1-1173749473-Mike_Thomas Mike Thomas

Hi my name is Mike Thomas. Everyone just call's me Tomo as there are so many Mike's at work . I have been in a O-I New Zealand for nearly 17yrs. This is the first time that I have been involved in the Golf Marrowthon but I love to play golf and I enjoy the 19th hole just like a few of the other weekend boy's do. I had my first hole in one last year and it had to happen in another country (Scotland of all places). I am doing this for the first time and for our nurse at work who suffers from Leukaemia and hopefully this will help her and others like her that are effected find a cure and peace of mind. So please dig deep into those long pockets with those short arms and donate whatever you can. So far I think I've raised just over $1800 and I would like to raise alot more, so come on guys dig deep.

Hi there.I am the Dealer Principal for Auckland Motors Mitsubishi. After seeing a friend and collegue sign up (second year in a row, Mr Daniel Kimi ladies and gentlemen)I looked into the Event and thought what an awesome opportunity to be involved in helping raise funds for the LBF. lets have a go! I am a keen golfer and have played for a couple of years. Crazy to play 100 holes in a day, but I will get some practice in before the event (hope the wife understands). This is a great cause and I look forward to the opportunity to raise awareness and as much sponsorship as possible!
Thumb-249-1-1172020399-Alan_Davies Alan Davies

On the 12th of April, along with other players, I will be taking part in playing 100 holes of golf in one day. It sounds crazy, I know, but having experienced the effects of family and friends being diagnosed with a blood disorder, this is a chance for me to assist the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation in their quest for funds so that their wonderful work in supporting those affected can continue. It is staggering to learn that "four New Zealand children and adults each day are diagnosed with leukaemia or a related blood disorder, including multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic disease and lymphoma". The pain in playing 100 holes of golf will be nothing compared to the trauma that the patient and their immediate families must endure. I would be sincerely grateful if you could see your way to sponsor me by making a donation. I promise you, I will play the 100 holes. My sincerest thanks in anticipation for your kind sponsorship.

I am really looking forward to participating in the Marrowthon this year. I started playing last year, have almost reached a scratch handicap and expect to turn professional within the year and take my first open by Christmas. Watch out Tiger Woods. Well...if I was to play 100 holes a day, this would certainly be possible. Sadly, I only play 10 times a year and feel lucky to be on a 22 handicap. So you can help me realise my dream of turning pro AND help raise money for a great cause. Copy my link and send it to everyone you know.... Send it to 5 people and you will win lotto this week! Send it to 10 people and you will win Big Wednesday! Send it too 100 and I will take you out for coffee!

Hi my names Jonsey, I'm a custodial officer for the NZ Police. This will be my first year participating in this event and I'm really looking forward to it. Golf has always been a passion of mine and I try to play as often as I can. So when this opportunity came up I couldn't think of a better way to raise money for such a worthwhile organisation.

Hi and welcome to my Golf Marrowthon fundraising page. Yes, I've decided to do this but it's all for a great cause. The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation provides essential services for the 4 patients diagnosed with leukaemia every day and their families across New Zealand. I'd really love it if you could help me to help them. So please could you sponsor me below? It's as easy as clicking the button, whipping out your credit card, and the LBF will email you a receipt directly for your donation. I will also write up a match day report. Will just be taking it one hole at a time. RPD

Raising funds for the LBF is close to my heart. In 2003 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphobalstic Leukaemia. After some top class treatment, a stem cell transplant and lots of time to recover I am now able live a normal life, and play golf again on a regular basis. Normally I am very competitive on the fairways, but this is fun.... and more seriously an opportunity to raise some much needed funds for this great and deserving charirty organisation. Having battled against this awful disease, and had the benefit of the LBF's care and support, it is tiime to put something back into this wonderful organisation. Can you please help! Every little bit helps, to make the pain of battling leukaemias and lymphomas that mush easier. Donations are simple. Just get the flexible friend out, click on the button, fill out the details, and hey presto ! The LBF will send you a receipt for tax purposes. I know for sure that every donation will be greatly appreciated by the LBF. Thanks Ray

I am a very passionate golfer and play as frequently as my poor suffering wife will allow me to. It would not be unusual for me to play a couple of rounds per weekend at either The Grange or Titirangi. Sometimes I even get to play in The Grange's handicap pennants team! This is a great challenge - 100 holes of golf in a day is much more than I have ever attempted which is 36, and that was a real stretch!
Thumb-255-1-1173741689-Tony_Carter_Y9409 Tony Carter

As a very busy CEO, I find it very difficult to get in 18 holes a week, let alone 100 holes in a day! But I figure that if I set aside just one day, I can get a months golf into a very tight timeframe. 100 holes in a single day will be a huge stretch for me, however, I will be competing with Rob Chemaly for line honours as part of an ongoing competition for golf bragging rights. But seriously, this is a great opportunity for me to assist others who are in a much less fortunate situation.

I have recently graduated from the University of Otago, and have moved up to the big smoke to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers. While I don't have a single figure handicap (or close to it really...!), I thought this would be a great way to raise some funds for a great cause, and would be the ideal way to get some annual leave that the boss could never turn down! I'm looking forward to the mammoth day out on the golf course.
Thumb-259-1-1174877350-Blair Blair Wingfield

Yes I’m having a crack at it again. The 2nd time in three years. My sons Seton & Guy have played in both events but this time I’m replacing the injured Guy. I am a 25 year survivor of this dreaded disease as well as the current Chairman of our dedicated Foundation and I am justly proud of the support that we give to patients and families throughout New Zealand. The 100 Hole Golf Marrowthon is one of our biggest fundraising events so we need all the help we can to carry out our mission. Please give generously to an aging old golf nut. Thanks Blair

I am a keen golfer and this is my third involvement in the Marrowthon either playing or as a caddie. It is a charity that I have great affinity for because 25 years ago, when I was 8 years old, my dad had this terrible disease Leukaemia and now he is Chairman of this foundation. They are heavily involved in supporting patients and families in New Zealand and this is their major fundraiser. I am married to Miranda and have three kids, Xavier, Ethan and Amalia. I work for Softsource as a Technical Consultant.
Thumb-262-1-1175059559-A45W2326 Raewyn Roberts

Hi, my name is Raewyn Roberts (or ‘Razza’ to some) and I am committed to playing in this year’s golf marrowthon and raising funds for this very worthwhile charity. I’m not the best golfer and am a bit of an old bird! But I am damn sure I will have the energy for 100 holes given the potential I have to raise money for the LBF and the wonderful support they give to those in need. Over years in my teaching career I have been with young people who have contracted leukaemia, and I would want to dedicate my effort on the day to them, as well as a young man I try to support in America, Hoyle Sneed, So Hoyle, I’m giving this a real shot for you, as I know how crazy you are for your sport and I just love the attitude you have to life. Yo inspire me to help in whatever way I can. I also have family members and friends with leukaemia. We will all benefit from making an effort and giving to this great cause. Please dig deep and help me help the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
Thumb-266-1-1175210099-Dav_Business_Card_Pic Davyn Nola

Hi, my name is Davyn Nola, and I am very excited to be playing in this year’s golf Marrowthon and raising funds for this very worthwhile charity. The sport of Long Drive is my passion! I am currently the longest hitter of a golf ball in NZ. My NZ Long Drive Record is 392 metres (428 yards). For the last five years I have competed at The World Long Drive Championships in Nevada, USA and in October we head to Nevada for this years competition. Last year I helped close friend Philly Meti prepare for the World Long Drive Championships and Philly, not to my surprise ended up winning the women’s event, beating her competitor in the final by more than 40 yards! I work at Golf Down Under in Albert St.,Auckland and I love passing on my long drive tips on technique and picking the right gear! I love to help golfers of all levels hit it further; it’s a great feeling when it goes clean and straight down the fairway! Aviation Golf Club is my club! I love it there and I can’t wait to have some fun playing 100 holes!! This is a great cause. Please dig deep and help me help the NZ Leukaemia & Blood Foundation. Thank you.

I am looking forward to joining the rest of the field for a great day and a great cause - may need to bring my raincoat though. See you all there.
